Desktop Support Technician II

Position Description:

Biosite is seeking a full time customer-oriented Desktop Support Technician with 1 to 3 years of experience to join our progressive team of IT professionals.Working with a highly skilled, yet mentoring team, the Desktop Support Technician II provides second level support in response to incidents and/or requests from a variety of internal customers including remote field personnel.We are looking for a well written and well spoken self starter who can effectively manage and prioritize tasks in a fast paced dynamic environment. Advanced knowledge of PC, laptop, and printer hardware is required. Experience with corporate IT and business structures desired.The Desktop Support Technicians primary responsibilities are to:- Provide software, hardware and network first & second level hands on and telephone support for 700 local and 150 remote employees using desktop and laptops running all flavors of Windows, Microsoft Office XP, 2003, and other standard desktop software applications.- Repair, test, configure, deploy, move, upgrade, and transfer, and maintain PC’s, laptop’s, IP phones, printers, and accessories.- Install, configure and pc software, and client applications.- Manage your queue and prioritize your tasks using our Service-Now.com ITSM System.- Establish and document configurations, installations, etc.- Diagnose failed hardware and software, repair and replace where possible, maintain asset tracking and dispose of older equipment. - Manage the general computer and supplies inventory ensuring the adequate stock of parts and supplies computers, printers, laptops, and etc. - Help to establish and maintain suitable hardware inventory par levels.- Assist customers through logging into the Tier II helpdesk during peak times.- Visit customers and evaluate their workspace, business, software, and hardware needs.- Provide informed recommendations to customer and IT management falling within corporate standards and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Our desired candidate will possess the experience, skills, knowledge and expertise listed below: - One to three years of IT experience involving the deployment, configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of computer systems and software. - Specific experience with the following technologies: MS Windows 95/98/NT/2000/2003/XP, Antivirus/Spyware Applications, Norton Ghost 8.0, IT service managment systems and metrics, Microsoft Windows Networking / Active Directory, Remote Control tools, Microsoft Office products, Client / Server Applications, Windows Registry, etc.- Reliable attendance and punctuality- Professional demeanor- Friendly and courteous communication skills- Clear and concise documentation skills- Ability to take direction and be flexible- Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, end-users and vendors.- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.- Willing to be included in the “On Call� weekly rotation with extra pay- A+ Certification desired- Experience dealing with VPN issues desired- Associates and / or Bachelors degree desired- ITIL education a plus- Network+ or Server+ a plus- MSCDT a plus- MCP in Windows XP a plus- Please no MSCE's!!!- Desire to learn and advance your career in the Client Services arena- Long term goals to expand your role into other areas a plus
