Designer, Senior

Job Summary Under the direction of a project leader, or engineering provide technical and CAD support to the organization.  Technical and CAD support includes generation of design ideas, utilizing CAD and standard drafting techniques to create concept models, LMC/MMC tolerance layouts, and detailed drawings.  Utilize CAD to provide cross-functional department support, as required.General Functions –§ Create CAD 3-D models and concept layouts based on internal and external design criteria (ex: marketing, surgeons, sales reps, engineers, manufacturing).§ Create and maintain detailed drawings for the use in fabricating prototypes and/or manufacturing production.§ Process DCO’s for documentation update.§ Handle multiple project tasks, manage small projects or portions of larger projects.§ Interact with external customers (surgeons, field reps, & OR staff) to gather design inputs, & design feedback. § Interface with personnel throughout the organization; share ideas and support efforts related to the overall business goals and objectives of Zimmer Spine.§ Interact with Vendors & suppliers for prototypes, product design for manufacturability, & problem solving.§ Complies with existing Quality Systems Regulations and Zimmer Spine Quality Policies. Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSAs) –§ Well versed in interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and capable of applying GD&T callouts to drawings per ASME Y 14.5-1994§ Independently handle multiple tasks and problem solve as required for day-to-day business.§ Adapts quickly to new technologies.§ Capable of performing simple statistical & engineering calculations, (stress calculations & material strength evaluations). § Able to affectively communicate (written & verbal) in a cross functional team environment.§ Perform and/or document design inputs, customer requirements, risk analysis, & verification/validation tests. Technical Knowledge - § Proficient in operation of CAD station and Pro-Engineer. Working knowledge of Unigraphics, & SolidWorks helpful.  CAD Software expertise sufficient to troubleshoot model failures and lend assistance to other designers.  § Knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T per ANSI Y14.5M-1994 and mechanical/manufacturing design standards.   Other Duties and Responsibilities§ Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.§ Perform other duties, as assigned.  Education/Experience Requirements – Associate Degree or equivalent (training / experience) with 3+ yrs design experience.  Demonstrated competence in Pro-Engineer. Working knowledge of Unigraphics, & Solidworks helpful. Travel Requirements – Up to 5%Education: AssociatesJob Level: 6 - 7 yearsPercent Travel: 1-10%
