Position Summary:
- A scientific resource capable of conducting high level scientific and strategic interactions with Cubist employees as well as external thought leaders.
- Ensures appropriate scientific exchange and support of healthcare professionals on behalf of Cubist Clinical Development & Medical Affairs in an assigned geographic region. Develops and maintains peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and other healthcare professionals.
- Assesses and responds to clinical information, scientific/medical concepts and intellectual property and presents a fair and balanced, highly clinical, scientific and professional profile of infectious disease therapies and products, and any other therapies and products of interest to Cubist.
- Possesses the ability to expertly communicate these concepts, ideas and information both in writing and via formal presentation.
- Will also design, develop, execute, analyze and publish scientific data as needed.
- Possesses the ability to resolve emerging issues using existing teams and/or an established network of expert consultants.
- Collaborates as needed on a cross-functional basis with Sales and Marketing, Clinical Development and Clinical Operations and Discovery Research and Evaluation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Analysis, Input and Implementation
- Performs critical analysis and synthesis of medical literature.
- Identifies and pursues appropriate opportunities for research and scientific publications to advance the body of scientific literature on approved products.
- Represents Cubist and present disease state, product and therapeutic information at scientific meetings, such as Advisory Boards and Speaker Training.
- Participates on cross-functional teams supporting the research, development and commercialization of Cubist's products.
Relationship Management and Development
- Develops and maintains collegial peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and other influencers within the therapeutic areas of interest to Cubist.
- Interacts with a wide range of external thought leaders such as physicians, pharmacists, and allied healthcare professionals to provide appropriate scientific exchange (fair-balanced scientific and technical drug and disease state information) on behalf of Cubist.
- Identifies potential opportunities with leading researchers in the field as consultants and for future research projects.
Regional Management and Development
- Effectively develops and manages all aspects of regional CSD plan.
- Evaluates and administers external requests for research, training, and continuing medical education.
- Works closely with field sales to provide technical and scientific training on relevant products, programs and issues.
- Ensures compliance of activities with Cubist's policies as well as pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.Required Skills

Education/Certification
- Advanced, doctoral level degree required: PharmD, MD or PhD
- Infectious diseases training/experience preferred
- Clinical experience (hospital, patient care focused) is preferred
- Basic skills and experience with scientific data/literature review required. Experience presenting / publishing scientific data is strongly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in related areas (Medical Affairs, Research & Development, Pharmacology) with 3 years as an Medical Science Liaison (MSL) preferred.
- Experience leading projects and interacting with cross-functional teams is desired.Total Rewards:
