Boston, MA 02101 Installation/Maintenance/Repair Job SummaryAstraZeneca R&D Boston represents the scientific and professional resources of a world-class pharmaceutical organization. Collaborative in spirit, intellectually dynamic, the state-of-the-art Research and Development Boston facility, located in Waltham, MA reflects the innovative environment of AstraZeneca’s leading-edge pharmaceutical research. We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to work in our Central Utility Plant on site, in Waltham, MA. The Qualified individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Central Utility Plant, distributed utilities, and selected building support equipment and systems. Plant systems include: * high-pressure boiler plant (twenty-four hour operation) * emergency power generation * chiller plant with cooling water towers * compressed air plant with refrigeration dryers * power metering and distribution * Building support systems include fire protection * HVAC systemsDuties include: * performing daily operations and preventative maintenance tasks * troubleshooting * emergency repairs * corrective maintenance * chemical treatment in support of utility systemsApplicant shall be responsible for the compliance of all AZ safety programs, including maintaining a clean and safe environment. Prepare boiler plant and other systems for inspections, especially those administered by the Department of Public Safety. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, emergency-operating procedures, and disaster response plans. Participate in emergency drills.ResponsibilitiesMinimum of 4 years experience in operating high-pressure steam plants with a capacity of 500 horsepower or more. Knowledge of central utility plants and distributed utilities including natural gas, electrical, steam, compressed air, and chilled water is essential. Experience in proper chemical water treatment for boilers and cooling towers is preferred. Good communication and computer skills are required. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, shift work, and some overtime.Requirements include a stationary engineer license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Third Class Stationary Engineer or First Class Fireman license preferred. Second Class Firemen with strong mechanical background will be considered. Ability to read and understand written operating procedures, technical manuals, and drawings is essential. Must demonstrate a basic knowledge of Chapter 146 of the Massachusetts General Law.
