CNC Machinist - 2nd shift

The Cleanroom CNC Machinist on 2nd shift will ensure that Kensey Nash products are of consistent and high quality by:  producing CNC machined polymer-processed components in compliance with established KNC/GMP procedures. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Set up and control the operation of a variety of CNC controlled lathes, milling machines and other polymer machine processing operations in a cleanroom environment while following cleanroom procedures.

2. Program complex, tight tolerance parts utilizing CNC controlled lathes and milling machines.

3. Consistently manufacture parts of high complexity while maintaining tolerances in the .0005 - .0010 range.  Measure and inspect parts to ensure quality.

4. Act as liaison with Manufacturing, Model shop and Engineers to determine the best method of manufacturing complex parts in order to meet production goals and deadlines.

5. Direct training of employees in polymer machining procedures, and processes.

6. Assist Maintenance department with maintaining equipment according to internal maintenance schedules and manufactures recommendations.

7. Keep detailed and accurate records of all production runs, maintenance activities, and product development activities according to KNC/GMP guidelines.

8. Advise direct supervisor of perceived problems with processes, machinery, or product quality, and assist in developing improvements.

9. Respond with flexibility to changes with the production schedule and interact with other departments as necessary.

10.  Assist Engineers with product development, protocols, design of experiments, and product validations.

11.  Support QA in sample collection, testing, scheduling, and monitoring of product quality.

12. Perform other duties as assigned by Direct Supervisor.

 

EDUCATION:  High School graduate or equivalent, additional trade school or technical college degree, or equivalent work experiencerequired.

EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years experience in production machining environment  operating CNC machines, or 4 year technical degree required. Clean room and GMP experienced preferred.

 

SUPERVISION:  Work independently and in groups, with direction from Group Leader, or Supervisor.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Controlled environment where appropriate clean room gowning and safety equipment must be worn. KNC safety and operating procedures must be followed. Handling of some chemicals and solvents required.  Closed Toe shoes with flat soles are required, safety-toed shoes may be required. Person will be required to work with machinery, hand tools, fixtures, and measuring / test equipment. Some tasks require repetition of movement. 

 

ABILITIES:  Advanced CNC set-up, programming, and operation skills, good written and oral communications skills. Computer literacy, basic math skills, and mechanical aptitude are required.  Capable of working with small parts, manual dexterity, appropriate hand–eye coordination with visual acuity skills required.  Demonstrates strong process knowledge, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
