CHEMIST II

Chemist II position in the Characterization Group of the Corporate Analytical Research Department (CAR) within the R&D organization at the St. Louis site. This position involves the development of analytical methods and characterization of non-routine samples using Laser Diffraction Particle Size, Solubility/pKa Measurement and Wet Chemistry techniques. Also may involve the characterization of non-routine samples using additional analytical techniques, including but not limited to Polarized Light Microscopy; and providing support for NIR/PAT efforts. The individual filling this role will be responsible for the routine maintenance and calibration of Laser Diffraction Particle Size, Solubility/pKa Measurement and Wet Chemistry instrumentation and equipment; will participate in problem-solving using the aforementioned analytical techniques with other analysts in both CAR and R&D; must be able to communicate results to internal customers in a timely manner, maintain detailed records and reports describing experiments and results, and maintain safe work habits and a safe workplace. Requirements: BS in Chemistry with 3 years experience or MS in Chemistry required. Hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory preferred; experience developing Laser Diffraction Particle Size and Wet Chemistry methods desired. Strong analytical problem-solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, self motivation, good work ethic, and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner are required.
