Biotech/Life Science - VP/Director of R&D

We are currently looking for a VP/Director for R&D based in Chicago, Illinois.  This person will manage all R&D activities for a startup company with a detection technology for immunoassays for the research and diagnostics markets; interact with the R&D team to develop goals, and to plan and manage activities to achieve commercial goals; represent the technical group on the management team for all corporate activities, from tactical planning and budgeting to long term strategy development and fundraising; and work closely with the management team to effectively present the technology, company and plans to potential customers, investors, collaborators and partners.

 

Requirements:

 - Ph.D. in biological science or closely related field

 - 15 years experience in R&D in the corporate sector in either diagnostics or research-based products

 - 10 years experience in managing people

 - Significant experience required in antibody-based technologies

 - Strong working knowledge of detection technologies, including fluorescence, luminescence and colorimetric assays

 - Experience and expertise in project management required

 - Knowledge and experience in patent process essential

 - Early stage company experience a big plus
