Associate Scientist, Process and Formulation Support - (Job Number: 0809349) DescriptionThe Associate Scientist, Process and Formulation Support will assist in development and validation of chemical and biochemical assays such as chemistry and biochemistry technologies such as SDS-PAGE, IEF, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometric assays and chromatography techniques to support current and future formulations and fill /finish processes for biologics. Assist in transfer of assay technology to manufacturing QC laboratories and contract manufacturers. May perform other duties as assigned. Perform experiments to support the current and future formulations of drug products.Help to design and conduct experiments for modification of current assays and for the development of new assays to support formulation development. Write analytical procedures SOP's, equipment SOP's and reports. Maintain and improve proficiency of operations through training and education. Assist in the technology transfer of assays to QC and contract manufacturers. Troubleshoot and solve problems with assay and equipment.Develop a thorough understanding of the techniques with respect to the biotechnological molecules analyzed. Performs assays according to approved SOP's. Institutes and maintains GMP practices as necessary. Performs equipment/instrumentation maintenance/calibration/validation as necessary. Participates in writing SOP's and other lab documents. Ensures lab is continuously maintained in a safe, orderly and compliant condition.Participates in laboratory support functions such as ordering supplies. Ability to learn and use instrument-specific and standard computer programs, such as Excel, Access, and Word, for data analysis, and report writing. Provide support in troubleshooting assay performance.This is not an exhaustive, comprehensive listing of job functions. May perform other duties as assigned. A B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific discipline. 3+ years for BS, or 1+ years for MS, relevant laboratory experience is required. Experience in analytical biochemistry is preferred. Experience with SDS-PAGE, IEF, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometric assays and chromatography techniques are all a plus. Experience in method development and/or method transfer would also be a plus. Experience in GMP practices are a plus. The ability to work independently and as a part of a team is required. Good communication as well as writing skills are required.
