Associate Director of Project Management
SUMMARY:
This Project Management position will be responsible for managing select projects within and for the organization; the development of a Portfolio Management process; assist in lead identification, analysis and execution of corporate business development opportunities; aid in the deployment of resources within the Company all while ensuring that best practices for the discipline and the industry are applied. The Project Management function is responsible for facilitating the company’s product development and commercialization efforts through the creation of project plans and management of the execution of these plans. They will ensure the completion of projects on schedule and within budget and will coordinate the flow of information between teams, team members, and senior management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific activities include, but not limited to the following: Develop project plans (timeline, budget, and activities) that can be executed to meet the corporate objectives and scope as outlined by senior management and/or project sponsors. Manage the functional team(s) and resolve project conflicts with team members as appropriate (resources, budget, interpersonal, etc.). Develop risk assessments for each project and their plans. Develop mitigation strategy and action that is commensurate with assigned probability and risks. Communicate the progress of the project execution to the stakeholders and senior management. Develop and maintain a Portfolio Management process with guidance from senior management. Conduct the Project Reviews at the consensus frequency and use this process to feed the Portfolio Management process. Assist in establishing and maintaining current best practices for project/portfolio management (e.g. structure, tools, planning approaches, etc.). Assist in lead identification, analysis and execution of corporate business development opportunities. Provide and maintain guidelines to team members and the rest of the organization on project templates, operating procedures, and applicable processes. Assist the Finance Department in the development of corporate budgets, forecasts, and long range plans as it relates to ongoing projects. Provide assistance and guidance to intra-functional projects as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Skills required in the following: Experience with Project Management, Project Teams and Portfolio Management within the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarization with the FDA and related regulatory requirements/submissions required. Leadership skills necessary to assertively manage projects and team members Excellent high quality, effective, and clear communication skills and experience communicating with all levels in the corporation. Facilitation, presentation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and report writing skills. Primarily interpersonal contacts with cross-functional groups. Some travel is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required, science major preferred, MBA/Advanced Degree desired. Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical and/or pharmaceutical industries.

Salary base will be competitive with the field and experience. Compensation package includes base salary, stock options, vacation time, sick leave, paid holidays and benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account plan and 401(k) plan.
Please Note: This position is located in Burlingame, California - No relocation package is offered.
