We are currently seeking an Associate Director Marketing to join our Corporate Sales and Marketing organization. In this role, you will be responsible for co-leading the development, implementation and monitoring of the corporate marketing planning and communication strategy for all pan-Covance integrated services solutions, strategic partnering and market expansion initiatives. Your success will be determined by your ability to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing planning and communication strategy that is embraced by the organization and that will brand Covance as the premier contract research organization to major customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Your specific responsibilities will include: Directing the activities of, including managing, motivating and developing three direct reports: an eMarketing Specialist, a Manager of Marketing Communications and three Conferences & Events Managers. You will also be responsible for managing and influence a matrix of 10–20 individuals across and within all business units. These individuals will include outside vendors, consultants, and employees on project teams accountable for the development of marketing, sales and operations materials/processes as well as the development of new commercial services Co-development, implementation, monitoring and refining a comprehensive corporate marketing communication strategy (value propositions/proof points) for all pan Covance programs/initiatives under an unified Covance brand Co-development, along with Corporate Communications, of a corporate branding strategy. You will research, develop and manage global branding guidelines that ensure consistent brand image & equity across the organization Working with corporate and business units, you will identify, implement and analyze the most effective promotional levers that increase brand awareness and sales (e.g. customer segmentation, tradeshows/conferences, symposia, eMarketing/Web site, communication channels, etc.) Strategic direction and development of internal marketing and leadership meetings, including cross-business unit manager's meetings, global marketing & sales meetings, marketing excellence forums and launches. You will manage and oversee our conferences and events strategic planning and execution (metrics) Support the VP, Corporate Marketing in the overall leadership, implementation and managing of strategic marketing planning processes that will be supported and embraced by the business units  Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required in marketing or life sciences 8+ years of proven experience in the development and/or launching of products/services in the healthcare industry and management of the corresponding marketing promotional/communication mix. Consideration will be given to candidates with solid marketing/marketing planning/conferences experience within a service industry or a products company (i.e. pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices). 8+ years of experience in marketing and sales with science oriented companies that sell products or services to Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Diagnostic, or Medical Device companies (e.g. CRO or a life science tools provider such as analytical instruments and reagents, other services). Must have a solid understanding of the drug development process from pre-clinical development through commercialization. Knowledge of regulatory guidelines: GLP, GMP, GCP, and CLIA a plus. Strong supervisory/people/teams management skills Skilled in performing presentations and leading meetings. Skilled in negotiating, time management, planning and budgeting. Proven leadership and consensus building skills Proven success in working in a heavily matrixed organization to build consensus for marketing strategiesPreferred: MBA in Marketing or equivalent Proven experience in selling, marketing, or working in operations at companies that sell to pharmaceutical companiesCovance offers extraordinary career opportunities to our employees.
