Associate Director, Consumer Insights (1 of 2) - (Job Number: 0809922) DescriptionMcNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc., a member of Johnson && Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Associate Director, Consumer Insights, located in Fort Washington, PA. McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc. markets a broad range of over-the-counter products around the globe. McNeil Consumer Healthcare is most widely recognized for the complete line of TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, the leading pain reliever brand in the adult and pediatric categories. The TYLENOL® product line consists of hundreds of products across a variety of pain categories. Other brands include IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, which is marketed in more than 60 countries, ST. JOSEPH® Adult Regimen Aspirin and MOTRIN® IB. This position reports to the Business Strategies and Insights Director of Pain, Pediatrics and Digestive Health, and is responsible for creating actionable, value-adding recommendations to drive business growth. Primary role of this position is to translate primary and secondary market research into insight-based growth strategies. It will effectively integrate consumer insights and research findings into the development of brand positioning and new products to capitalize on market need gaps, create competitive advantage and manage product life cycles. This includes, but is not limited to, assessing macro category issues, consumer trend analysis, communications development, packaging, pricing, and strategic innovation opportunities. Excellent critical thinking and interpretive skills required to synthesize disparate data into sound business implications and recommendations. Strong communications skills and cross-functional partnering skills required to influence decisions and champion recommended actions to Business Teams. Individual in this position will possess strong technical research skills, with ability to proactively identify appropriate methodologies while ensuring adoption of market research best practices A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science degree is required; major in business, marketing, market research, or related field preferred. MBA or Masters of Market Research, or equivalent advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years direct market research experience required, with a minimum of 2 years in consumer packaged goods marketing research also required. Specific areas of expertise preferred include: advertising development and testing, new product concept and product development, packaging development and testing, sales/shopper research, new product forecasting, and marketing mix assessment. Strong influencing, interdependent partnering, verbal/written communication, and business/strategic acumen required. Additional skills and abilities that are highly preferred include: Results Focused: Demonstrates personal accountability to develop and execute strategies that deliver positive business outcomes for the specified Brand. Demonstrates ability to plan, prioritize, adapt to change, and provide appropriate follow-through to effectively drive business results. Ability to Influence: Effectively communicates strategies that develop and enhance brand equity. Demonstrates ability to persuade others to a new or different perspective through use of compelling data and insights in order to positively impact achievement of business results. Demonstrates ability to negotiate and resolve conflict resulting in balance of competing Vendor, Company, Consumer, Internal Customer and Team needs. Business Acumen: Uses understanding of contextual information (Consumer, Category, Customer, Competition), Brand information, and sales / marketing business practices to develop and gain support for strategic recommendations that drive the business forward. Technical Ability: Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to use primary custom research methodologies to develop and recommend business strategies that drive growth. Understands strengths and weaknesses of various qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and can make recommendations regarding appropriate research methods to utilize when evaluating positioning, copy, pricing, packaging, and new product ideas. Can synthesize information from various sources to help internal clients to understand not only the implications of a single study, but also how those implications make sense in the context of a Brand's existing knowledge estate. Business Partnering skills: Demonstrates ability to build positive, constructive relationships with team members, Brand Marketing teams, Trade Marketing teams, and external agency partners in order to leverage knowledge and efforts. Can partner effectively with vendors in order to ensure appropriate and timely delivery of services. Coaching && Mentoring: Coaches and develops a diverse team to maximize their full potentials, based on the needs of the Department and the Company now and in the future.
