The company has over 2,200 employees in the Bay Area, dedicated to every aspect of biotechnology- research, development, manufacturing, and commercialization.POSITION DESCRIPTIONDrive and maintain an Operational Excellence program which includes Strategic Planning, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma across PS Biotech Supply Centers which includes Berkeley and Seattle sites. The incumbent will:• Have primary focus in Product Supply Center – Berkeley (Internal) / Seattle (External)• Drive and deploy Operational Excellence policies and provide leadership achievement of KPI goals and objectives• Support all aspects of Operation Support for other PS Biotech sites – Seattle, Rosia, CMO. Major Tasks of the Position: • Deploy and manage Operational Excellence strategy for PS Biotech Supply Center with priority focus on Berkeley (Internal) / Seattle (External) and assure alignment with Product Supply Organization• Provide advice and assistance to Process Owners, Lean Improvement Teams, and individuals in the area of lean tools, change management, waste elimination, and customer driven improvement• Provide Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Certification Training• Provide expert mentoring and assistance to Process Owners, CIP Teams and individual Black Belts in the areas of statistics, change management, and process design or re-design strategies• Ensure rigor in project execution, phase requirements and timing: organize and facilitate project phase reviews with Black Belts, Green Belts and CIP Leads• Coach Black belts and Green belts in scoping projects and using Lean six sigma tools in line with problem complexity• Ensure Best Practice Sharing• Supports integration of Lean Six Sigma processes and tools into Bayer and the application of Lean Six Sigma to KPI issues to optimize business performance• Deploy a proactive, strategically aligned manufacturing/system support processes for all PS Biotech Site’s manufacturing activities that provide for successfully achieving aggressive manufacturing goals and objectives.• Direct and oversee required MFG support and troubleshooting activities designed to resolve product/process quality issues and improve manufacturing robustness and cost efficiency. These activities cover all PS Biotech Site manufacturing plants and as applicable, contract vendor sites or raw material supplier sites.• Provide the necessary technical management expertise and provide effective communication for product enhancements, troubleshooting, quality improvements, design modification, packaging engineering and system support in both intra- and inter-departmental team formats.• Work in an ethical manner both in individual and team efforts to fully address internal customer quality expectation issues.POSITION REQUIREMENTS• BS/BA (4 years of university experience) or equivalent • Black Belt Certified• Strong analytical/problem solving skills • High degree of customer sensitivity/acumen • Outstanding communication and team leadership skills • Demonstrated cross functional project leadership • Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans • Demonstrated history of top performance• Demonstrates potential to take on greater responsibility in the organization or possesses exceptional knowledge in statistical analysis • Completes 2 strategic projects (or completes at a agreed upon rate of achievement a campaign to implement a Lean fundamental)• Coaches 5 LEAN SIX SIGMA projects to closure• Leads (grandfathers) at least 2 waves of LEAN SIX SIGMA training• Spends at least 2 years in full time Master Black Belt role.
