Accounting Manager

Arena is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing innovative oral drugs for patients with serious diseases and disorders, such as obesity and insomnia. We have a diverse portfolio of drug candidates, both proprietary and partnered. Our lead proprietary drug candidate, lorcaserin hydrochloride, is intended for the treatment of obesity and is being evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical program.

Department:  Finance & Administration

Description: The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting and Controller and will assist other staff with the following:Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting for the Company; Process Fixed Assets in an accurate and timely manner; Preclinical and Clinical contract accounting; Assist with Stock Administration and FAS 123R accounting; Review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, daily cash reports, payroll transactions and other accounting activities; Test internal controls over financial reporting; Mentor and train accounting staff to focus on continuous improvement; Day-to-day accounting operations; Monitor accounting literature and pronouncements applicable to the Company and perform technical research when needed.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or a business related field is required. CPA designation is a plus.

 

Experience:

 5+ years of progressive experience; Proven track record of success with “best practicesâ€� finance organization within a dynamic, high-growth and results-oriented company; Ability to respond to rapidly changing and conflicting priorities; Previous “Big 4â€� experience is a plus; Excellent analytical ability with a high degree of creativity; Advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills; Great Plains and Equity Edge experience are helpful.
