Trust Compliance Officer

The Trust Compliance Officer is responsible for directing the overall Compliance Program for the Wealth Management & Trust Division for PlainsCapital Bank.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  Development, implementation and maintenance of the fiduciary compliance program for the administrative, operational and investment activities of the Wealth Management & Trust Division.  This program would be subject to periodic review and approval by the appropriate PlainsCapital Bank Committee. 

 Supervision of the compliance training and monitoring/testing programs for the bank.

 Responsible for the development and maintenance of all applicable policies and procedures manuals covering fiduciary and other non-deposit investment activities.

 Analyzes and evaluates regulatory compliance requirements and management oversight reporting requirements to maintain high level of competency.

 Identifies critical functions in order to develop proper controls and monitoring programs to reduce potential liability related to business, operational, regulatory and reputational risks related to fiduciary activities, especially in the areas of anti-money laundering and conflicts of interest. 

 Conducts reviews of areas which are related to high risk critical functions or that require immediate compliance attention.

 Serves as the liaison to state and federal bank regulatory examiners and also to internal auditors.

 Prepares and coordinates all information between bank Wealth Management and bank examiners during regulatory examinations and then follows up with development of appropriate written responses and corrective actions to exam/audit issues.

 

Position Requirements

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, accounting or economics or equivalent work experience.

5 years of experience in ERISA/fiduciary law and regulations; general securities compliance experience or related work experience to include management experience required. SEC Compliance, a plus.

Strong fundamental knowledge of bank/fiduciary regulatory and financial institution compliance laws and regulations. 

Strong Computer skills, including use of financial software.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and influence skills.

Able to work both independently and with others in an effective manner, often under pressure, while exercising prudent judgment and critical thinking.
