Req ID: 2380Job Title: Trader/AnalystGroup: Markets GroupLocation: HO - New York, NY (Head Office)Job Status: Full-Time Area Overview: The Domestic Money Markets staff (DMM) has an opening for an experienced candidate to contribute to high-profile operational and analytical work. The staff’s main mission is to implement monetary policy, through planning and executing open market operations with the ultimate aim of keeping fed funds trading at the policy target. Senior staff lead daily decision making, coordinating with other units and facilitating discussions with Bank management and Board officials.
Staff are directly involved with the implementation of special programs, such as the Term Auction Facility. Staff are also responsible for developing expertise in bank reserve management practices and for understanding and analyzing the functioning and trends in domestic money markets, including the fed funds, Eurodollar, and GC repo markets as well as money market mutual funds. Additionally, staff will be expanding our understanding of bank term funding practices, including funding products and how banks choose which products to use. Staff share ad-hoc and in-depth analysis on these topics with Bank senior management and the Federal Reserve as a whole.Job Responsibilities: Formulate and execute temporary open market operations;Provide written and verbal presentations on monetary operations and developments in short-term money markets to officials in the Federal Reserve;Apply quantitative abilities to analysis of money markets;Daily contact with market participants to stay abreast of market conditionsWork as a team member on analytical and systems-related projects designed to enhance the ability of the Federal Reserve to conduct open market operations in a changing financial market environment; andRepresent the Markets Group and the Bank on issues related to monetary operations and the implementation of monetary policy.
This position requires access to FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.Position Requirements: Master's degree in economics, public policy, finance or a related field; and at least two years of relevant work experience ;Demonstrated analytical skills, including general knowledge of banking and financial markets, monetary policy, and of the Federal Reserve System;Proven ability to provide concise, articulate and insightful analysis in written and verbal form;Proven ability to compile qualitative and quantitative analysis on the financial markets;Ability to take initiative and work productively in a high-performance team atmosphere and as an independent analyst;Candidate must be able to make critical operational decisions under time pressure;Project Management experience highly desirable;Ability to accurately perform transactional and analytical duties under time pressure; and,Ability to interact effectively with peers, subordinates, senior management, and outside counterparties.
