Job Category: IT/Software Development Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Location: Boston, MA 02108 Status: Full Time, Employee Company: Fidelity Reference Code: 0804811 Sr. Software Engineer Position Description: The Senior Software Engineer will be working in a fast paced internet and client server environment as part of a team responsible for the execution of programs required to support shareholder initiatives as well as the day-to-day maintenance of the Executive Shareholder System (ESS) and the Shareholder Access and Reporting Enhanced System (SHARES) applications. The applications, built on the Microsoft development platform, are undergoing a redesign effort in an Oracle/Java environment. This position is part of the team that will assume responsibility for on-going operational enhancements as each phase is launched. This is an excellent opportunity to use your current Microsoft technical skills (VB/ASP) today and be part of a planned transition to the Oracle/Java platform.   In this role, you will be responsible for working with the business and other developers on a variety of tasks/projects to support the execution of an aggressive operational cycle.  This includes but is not limited to running of various procedures, modification of existing screens/reports/programs, application of manual updates and researching issues as required to meet the business requirements.To succeed, the candidate will need to be dedicated, level headed, able to think on their feet, react quickly but thoughtfully, and proactive.  He/she must follow-through to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, and truly have a passion for quality and customer focus.   Primary Responsibilities: Planning, coordinating, executing tasks required for timely execution according to the operational plan. Modify existing screens/reports/programs and apply manual data updates according to the business requirements. Assist with the development/testing of new reports and functionality as required. Demonstrate a solid understanding of business requirements and supporting application programs/processes. Research reported issues and provide technical support for ESS/SHARES.
