Sr Mortgage Compliance Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsibilities will include working collectively with the Chief Compliance Officer, business unit managers, and senior management to develop, implement, and maintain mortgage compliance programs to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Must have knowledge of; Fair Lending, Fair Housing Act, Flood Disaster Protection Act, Right to Financial Privacy, Record Retention, ADA, Patriot Act, FCRA, CRA, Regulation B, BB, C, O, Z, X.

·  Provide subject matter expertise to applicable business units.

·  Review, analyze, and interpret mortgage laws and regulations which affect the organizations business practice.

·  Monitor for state and federal regulatory compliance updates and disseminates information to the business unit managers and senior management while ensuring the enforcement of new and existing regulations within the business unit.

·  Coordinate implementation of regulatory updates.

·  Develop and revise policies to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

·  Assist in the creation of procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

·  Review forms, disclosure, brochures, and other printed documents for consumer use to ensure for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

·  Responsible for state licensing and loan officer licensing/registration.

·  Communicate changes within local, state, and federal laws and regulations to impacted areas of the organization. 

·  Work closely with various departments affected by changing laws and regulations to ensure that appropriate changes are implemented.

·  Work closely with Chief Compliance Officer and senior management on strategic planning activities to ensure and enhance organizational compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

·  Cooperate with General Counsel on matters involving the company’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 

·  To act as a liaison for Senior Management on regulatory compliance matters during federal compliance examinations, outside compliance audits, and internal compliance audits.

·  Oversight of corrective actions to ensure for proper and timely resolution of federal/ state examination or external/internal audit exceptions.

·  Provide compliance report to the Board of Directors regarding lending compliance activities.

·  Development of training program to educate staff on required and relevant laws and regulations. 

·  Conducts periodic risk assessment and ensures that each compliance risk is identified is appropriately addressed.

·  Monitor and track loan officer licensing/registration.

·  Monitor, track, and obtain (when needed) state licensing for mortgage office. 

·  Supervises the Mortgage Compliance Officer.

·  Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB SKILLS

· Working knowledge of compliance laws and regulations

· Working knowledge of bank operations and procedures

· Knowledge of trend analysis and other statistical tools

· Strong analytical skills

· Ability to analyze data

· Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and vendors using excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Proficient in Windows Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Detail oriented

· Self-directed and motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision

· Ability to organize and prioritize workload

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

College degree and/or equivalent experience. 5 years experience in compliance management including regulations on a state and federal level, HMDA reporting, licensing requirements, and quality control audits and state audits.

 

Must pass criminal and credit background check.
