Senior Web Programmer Analyst !
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15219 Employment Type: Full Time, Employee Reference Code: 1001127034 POSITION PURPOSE: To write a set of instructions in a programming language for the purpose of carrying out the requirements of a particular application. Also, to develop solutions to business or scientific problems. This will entail either the planning and developing a new system or the creating ways to use the existing system more efficiently. DIMENSIONS: Value of Programming: Types of Hardware Serviced (PC &/or Mainframe): PC; Web Server; Application ServerTypes of Programming Languages or Operating Systems Used:High - Level Language: JAVA 1.4 & 1.5 (J2EE); XML; JSP/HTML (STRUTS 2); JDBCLow - Level Language JavaScript; XSLT; XPath; SQL; Junit; Ant REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:Reports To: Web Development Manager Peers: Sr. Systems Analyst, Sr. Systems Programmer, Sr. Network AnalystPrimary Working Relationships: EDI Analyst; Programmer Analyst; QA Analyst; Business Analyst; GATORS CustomersDirect Reports: None RESPONSIBILITIES: * 1. Under limited supervision, formulate and design system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify complex information systems programs.* 2. Design and develop source code to perform the requirements of the application specifications.* 3. Develop test data for the purpose of testing whether the program runs and whether or not it meets application design specifications. * 4. Document program design, coding, and maintenance to allow for future changes. * 5. Provide guidance to less experienced programmer/analysts. 6. Complete other tasks as assigned.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent. Job Related Experience: Typically requires five to seven years programming/analysis experience. Must be able to make decisions based on precedent and solve arising problems using sound judgment and experience. Functional Area Skills/Knowledge: 1. An excellent knowledge of programming (i.e. program design, flowcharting, coding, testing, debugging, etc) 2. An excellent knowledge of how the pieces of a program fit together for the purpose of meeting the requirements of an application.3. An excellent knowledge of how to document program design, coding, and maintenance. 4. An excellent understanding of how critical project completion is to client satisfaction.5. An excellent knowledge of the relationship of how the software being used relates to the hardware being used.6. A strong knowledge of how to interact with external, as well as, internal clients for the purpose of data gathering and design initiation. At this level, the interaction may involve a great deal of writing. As a result, strong writing skills are required.7. At this level, independent judgment is a must.8.
