Securities Technician

Job Description Assist manager and staff in the resolution of complex operations related problems. Review and process client and internal partner requests, within the guidelines of departmental policies and procedures. Frequently contacts internal partners and all levels of staff to communicate problem resolution. Develops and implements effective internal control procedures and modifies existing processes.  Knowledge/Skills Thorough knowledge and understanding of brokerage operations and the rules and regulations governing brokerage operations, obtained through formal training and prior brokerage experience. Series 7 license is required; Series 24 license is a plus. Major Duties 1. Perform and complete daily operational processing functions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 2. Assists manager and/or staff in the resolution of complex technical processing and daily work problems. 3. Investigates and resolves inquiries including out-of-balances and exceptions, communicating solutions to appropriate parties. 4. Monitors and reports on various types of securities, trade and cash related transactions. 5. Monitors, maintains, and controls the security control function and/or all physical assets in the departmental area. 6. Identifies and describes complicated situations involving securities transactions, and brings to the attention of management and systems staff problems and recommended solutions. 7. Identifies a wide variety of problems in work flow and makes recommendations to improve the technical operations of the area. 8. Studies existing systems, recommending solutions to recurring problems. Develops and implements internal control procedures. 9. Communicates with security operations areas, other banks, and brokerage firms in solving problems and responding to inquiries. 10. Prepares status reports and volume analysis for the unit. 11. Identifies and reports on developing trends. 12. Acts as primary resource on training and cross-training employees. 13. Daily contact with sales force, internal partners and all levels of staff in responding to inquiries.  Experience 3+ years experience in brokerage operations.  Experience in a senior processing role is preferred.
