The Manager of Financial Reporting will supervise the financial reporting operations function to ensure the continual delivery of high quality financial reporting services to National Life Group’s internal and external customers at the most appropriate cost.  This position works independently and with the Director of Financial Reporting on various corporate projects and as needed.

Specific responsibilities of the role will include:Preparation, review and submission of all GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and management reporting, including preparation of Board of Director presentation materials. Assist the Director of Financial Reporting in the development of a cohesive team approach to improvement of the financial reporting and investment accounting processes. Develop and document initiatives to increase the organizations focus on analyzing results, tracking key performance indicators and benchmarks.  Develop and document an effective internal control framework for the financial reporting function. Manage the financial reporting staff with responsibilities for: Reporting Statutory and GAAP results. Compilation of monthly management reports. Analyzing financial data to evaluate performance of the company and it’s products. Maintaining statutory financial compliance for the group and its affiliates. Evaluation and application of accounting guidance related to current and new investment types. Research and resolution of regulatory issues.  Work to develop detailed working papers to provide sufficient supporting information regarding the companies financial disclosures. Assist the Director of Financial Reporting in the identification of training and/or development opportunities for financial reporting staff.



Requirements


The successful candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Experience in a broker-dealer regulatory environment (FINRA, SEC). Exposure to broker-dealer financial reporting and/or investment accounting.

Additional desired skills:Licenses – CPA, CMA, Series 27 Experience in the direction and supervision of staff.
