JAVA/J2EE Developer - Contract

Job Description:

This position is with the Treasury group that develops and supports several Java applications for the Debt Management System.

 Position Requirements

 Communication skills:

•Effective verbal and written communication skills.

•Ability to articulate design concepts to a variety of audiences including software engineers, management, and clients.

•Ability to produce clear and accurate documentation.

Technical skills:

•Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills.

•Experience in preparing and presenting design solutions.

•Three or more years of development experience demonstrating strong Java development skills in a J2EE environment. Grade level offered to job candidate will depend on experience and the number of desirable skills listed below that the candidate can demonstrate.

•Experience in automated testing of complex software. Experience creating test coverage for legacy systems is highly desirable.

•Solid understanding of unit, integration, and system testing concepts, tools, and best practices.

•Relational database skills. DB2 skills are highly desired.

•Standard PC skills including Windows and Microsoft Office products.

Professional skills:

•Highly effective organizational and analytical skills.

•Ability to multitask, prioritize, show initiative, and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.

•Demonstrated ability to work independently on assignments.

•Ability to troubleshoot.

•Ability to recommend design and process improvements.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

•Java programming certification

•Experience as a Senior Developer or Technical Lead

•Experience in mentoring other developers

•B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related major, with 3+ years experience in software development

Technologies and Tools (a subset of these or comparable experience is desired.):

•Websphere Integration Developer and WebSphere Application Server

•Experience with JUnit and other testing frameworks and tools such as Cactus, DbUnit, StrutsTestCase, mock object frameworks, etc.

•Borland SilkTest

•Ant and other tools which support continuous integration

•Struts, Hibernate, Spring

•EJBs and DAOs

•JSP

•JavaScript

•Web architecture, related standards, and industry best practices

• Experience with Security coding best practices

•SQL, including the ability to interpret/develop complex queries

•UML–especially use cases, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams

•Recognized life-cycle methodology

•Business Process Management application and a strong desire to understand the customer’s business

•Clearcase or other source control software and an understanding of good version control practices

•HTML, DHTML, XHTML, and XML
