Investment Operations Specialist
Summary of Position:The Investment Operations Specialist position will work with a team to support the operations of the firm. This role will work closely with the Operations Manager and will be responsible for fund movements, settlements and reconciliations, and will be a liaison between external third parties, such as investment advisory representatives, investment platforms and brokerage firms to ensure proper execution and reporting of investment activities. Additional functionalities will include client service, account reconciliation, cross training of team members and individual projectsEssential Functions:Oversee the daily activities of the assigned investment platform, including the execution and verification of trades upon the reallocation of investment models, new account set up, account closing and transfer of assets to and from the assigned platform.Resolve trade related problems with Investment Managers, Brokers, Investment Platforms, and outside vendors. Must be able to monitor trade processes from execution to settlement.Manage money movement while being able to resolve unique operational issues as they arise.Reconcile out of balance issues within client portfolios. Must be able to identify research and resolve inquiries and inefficiencies within an account.Check for new cash and securities coming into accounts daily to ensure that the desired portfolio allocations are maintained.Monitor daily cash positions to ensure there is enough money for client’s monthly distribution.Train team members in order to maintain business continuity.Qualifications:Experience: One to Five years of Investment Operations or related experienceEducation: B.A. Business/Finance/Accounting or related disciplineSkills Competencies: Excellent follow up and follow through skills. Top notch organizational skills coupled with the ability to effectively communicate on a written as well as oral basis. Must be a QUICK learner with a demonstrated ability to work within a team setting and possess good customer service skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Organizational Scope:The Investment Operations Specialist reports to Operations Manager and has no direct reports. The corporate structure is relatively flat and lean with ample access to decision makers. Our culture places a premium on both speed and quality while remaining cost effective. Rewards are results-based, not tenured-based.
