Fraud Associate
Description:Department Summary:The mandate of the Operational Risk Management team is to monitor, identify, analyze, measure and control potential operational losses. The department encompasses the business-line operational risk Leads, business continuity, crisis management and fraud risk management functions. All of these functions will work together performing reviews; assessments and investigations aimed at assessing and mitigating the risks to the institution raised by new products, new or changed activities, processes, systems and suspicious transactions. Job Summary:The Associate - Fraud Prevention is responsible for pro-actively and reactively reviewing and investigating all ING Direct customers accounts, applications, and transactions to identify and prevent loss from deposit fraud. Essential Functions:Run/Review/investigate all information acquired from pro-active risk reports.Make sound subjective decisions to close risky relationships, place and remove restrictions.Identify risk/prevent loss from fraud and suggest prevention solutions.Review referrals from other business units. Research legal and regulatory issues as requested.Maintain various project databases.Review checks, transactions and account changes in an analytic, forensic and investigative standpoint.Monitor debit card transactions for suspicious/fraudulent activity. Proactively investigate such activity to avoid loss. Investigate risk identified through the Bank's Know Your Client new account screening.Maintain and develop transaction authorization strategiesReview all alerts as generated by the company's transaction monitoring system in a timely manner. Undertake other projects/duties as assigned by Management.Qualifications:Experience & Qualifications:Minimum of 1 - 3 years of related work experience in fraud investigations/analysis, or risk management required. Credit background and previous card monitoring experience a plus.Education and/or Certifications:Completion of a post-secondary degree or equivalent relevant business experience required.Technical skills and abilities:Proficient with customary Windows and Mainframe account management banking systems.Experience making quick, high quality decisions on complex issues.Focus, problem solving skills, and ingenuity are required.Proficient in Word and Excel.Knowledge of systems utilizing a database.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously.Ability to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner.Ability to effectively communicate with customers to resolve any issues of risk or fraud.Ability to work with concepts and work independentlyAbility to be adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines on assignments and workflow fluctuations. Familiarity with credit bureau reports and a credit background beneficial.Working Conditions:10:00 to 7:00; 11:00 to 8:00 M-F, occasional evening and weekend work.
