Financial Consultant

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:This position is responsible for seeking business for the Popular Insurance, Insurance Agency and the broker-dealer through customers and potential customers by building effective relationships and trust with clients and potential clients.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Evaluate customers relative to financial needs, current holdings, available investment capital by listening to and uncovering their needs and educating them about the bank products and services that are most appropriate for their situation.• Help the client to identify their investment objectives.• Pro-actively seek information from clients and prospective clients to understand possible changing situations, needs and desired benefits and evaluate product or service alternatives.• Establish and maintain thorough prospect file, review and access on a scheduled basis. • Open, transfer and close customer accounts as necessary.• Maintain appropriate account records and insure all documentation required is provided and completed. • Obtain and verify all customer purchases and sales instructions, enter orders and follow-up on completion of all transaction.• Responsible for the explanation of the organization, participants and functions of various securities markets and the principal factors that impact them.• Monitor customer’s portfolio and make recommendations consistent with changes in economic and financial condition as well as the customer’s needs and objectives.• Apply newly gained knowledge, skill or technique to current work and share successes with other team members.• Keep updated on changes to banking environment, bank competition and customer's business environment.• Insure duties are performed in accordance with just and equitable principles of trade, federal and state laws and industry regulations.• Stay abreast of current legislation, regulations and policies.• Position will include additional sales development responsibilities as the sales process builds.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:• Ability to interview effectively, and use various interpersonal styles and communication methods, depending on customer and situation, to gain their acceptance of a product or service.• Complete knowledge of all securities products, sales and service techniques.• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.• Effective sales ability, marketing techniques and persuasiveness.• Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills. • Strong problem-solving, presentation, negotiation and follow-up skills.• Computer literate.• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships both internally and externally.• Up to 80% of travel required within the boroughs of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.• Bi-Lingual Spanish. ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree with related experience in financial services or retail organization.
