The Estate Administration Unit Manager is responsible for:
• Manage national center of competency for post-death and guardianship estate administration within Harris N.A. and The Harris Bank N.A., including workflow and account assignments
• Manage and mentor a staff of 12 estate administration professionals
• Manage business acceptance decisions respecting new post-death and guardianship estate fiduciary appointments
• Manage will file and trust business development file services provided both internally and through an outside service provider
• Administer a partial load of post-death accounts
• Serve as liaison to Trust Tax Unit and Personal Trust Counsel
• Maintain close working relationship with external accounting firm on estate, inheritance and fiduciary income tax planning and return preparation
• Integrate post death and guardianship accounts received from acquired banks
• Act as resource for internal and external clients on issues related to post-death and guardianship estate administration
• Conduct training on Estate Administration services for trust and investment management professionals as requested
• Act as a resource to management
• Maintain high visibility in Chicago legal community and participate as requested to meet with centers of influence in other national markets
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• J.D. degree (required)
• Experience in post-death estate and guardianship administration in private practice of law or in a bank trust department
• Thorough knowledge of federal and state estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax and estate income taxes and applicable probate and trust administration statutes
• Aptitude for managing people
• Experience in managing client expectations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly skilled in communication with outside counsel, accountants, health care and other professional service providers and with difficult beneficiaries
• Experience in professional business development and willingness to advance enterprise business development opportunities
