Main Duties/Responsibilities of the Role 

Overall Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of this role are to manage the underlying environment supporting both the production and QA systems within the FX and Rates product line. This role is a senior position within a team of 5 dispersed globally, with the Global Manager based in New York. The team is responsible for the proactive management of the systems to ensure control, stability and capacity. Within this area there are in the Region of 15 systems and 60 servers.

 

Functional Responsibilities:Owning the underlying hardware, from an application support perspective, supporting the FX and Rates production and QA environments

·  Working with the infrastructure teams to ensure the hardware and operating systems are current

·  Working with project teams to coordinate delivery of new systems into production

·  Owning the hardware inventory and ensuring its 100% accurate. Understanding the cost transparency reports and driving through cost savings where possible

·  Managing change with in the production environmentDisaster Recovery:

·  Ensuring the DR plans are current

·  Planning and coordination of DR testsQA specific

·  Ensuring the QA systems are available, end to end, such that the primary focus for the QA team is functional and regression testingCapacity Management

·  Monitoring the capacity of the production systems and ensuring growth plans are in place to accommodate projected increase in Business volumes

·  Working with project and development teams to understand the impact of new systems being implementedRelease Management

Skills and Experience 

Required Skills:Previous leadership experience within an infrastructure or application support team Strong knowledge of Windows and UNIX/Solaris Operating systemsStrong knowledge of Unix shell and Perl scriptingKnowledge of software release procedures and toolsetsExperience with multi-tiered applications.Working knowledge of SQL and database tools such as DBartisan or Rapid SQLWorking knowledge of IIS and Weblogic servers.

Desired Skills:Experience of supporting systems within the Financial Services field

Essential Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealing within IT and with providing support to end users. Must be a self-starter with proven track record of driving forward initiatives Highly analytical, pro-active and detail oriented Demonstrates professional development. Ability to frame and troubleshoot problems Proven ability to work independently and also as part of a remotely managed team

WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND4+ Years of IT Experience

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSCollegiate degree (BS or above) required
