Enterprise Architect
Overview:The Enterprise Architect is an experienced architect with cross-domain and cross-functional expertise, integral in defining and designing highly complex and highly integrated technical solutions. Providing technical leadership across the organization, the Enterprise Architect transforms the business architecture into technology capability solutions and defines the future vision technology roadmap. Key to the role is the ability to define the product and solution design from the business strategy to the IT strategy both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources.Description:Enterprise Architects work with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets. The enterprise architect links the business mission, strategy, and processes of an organization to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.Enterprise architects operate across organizational and computing "silos" to drive common approaches and expose information assets and processes across the enterprise. Their goal is to deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient and secure IT environment meeting a company's business needs.Delivered successfully, an enterprise architecture has the potential to allow both the Business and IT strategies to enable and drive each other. Therefore, effective enterprise architecture may be regarded as one of the key means to achieving competitive advantage through information technology.Responsibilities:· Responsible for the overall design and technical oversight of complex business systems and capabilities, spanning all layers of the business infrastructure; interfacing with the executive management and product sponsors to define requirements and recommend solutions. · Defines and translates customer business requirements for enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems into technical solutions and provides technical leadership to the implementation of these solutions.· Alignment of IT strategy and planning with company's business goals. · Optimization of information management approaches through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities. · Promotion of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies. · Work with portfolio, application and platform architects to provide a consensus based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and in sync with ever changing business needs. · Management of the risks associated with information and IT assets through appropriate standards and security policies. · Direct or indirect involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise. · Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise. · Provides expertise, direction, consulting and assistance to development teams.· Articulates alternatives in terms of cost, benefit, and risk where multiple solutions exist. · Consults with executive management and project sponsors to evaluate business requirements; defines and translates business requirements into technical solutions, recommending the best solution to fit the needs.· Provides assessment of business processes and technologies · Achieves and maintains relevant business and technical competencies, fostering an environment of continued growth and learning among colleagues on existing and emerging technologies · Builds business process automation systems designed to improve and track productivity and work flow.· Creates and maintains Multi-Year Plan (MYP) for implementing the future vision, a pipeline of opportunities for our enterprise capability, roadmaps, reference architectures, and total cost of ownership (TCO).Requirements:· Extensive experience (10+ years) including deep and broad knowledge of business process management, technical products, solutions and business environment. · Strong business acumen, including financial services industry· B.S./B.A./M.S. computer science/engineering or information systems degree or equivalent technical training· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships with key decision makers and influencers. Consulting background is a plus· Ability to define and articulate customer value propositions for products, technologies and solutions. · A flexible attitude and ability get the job done working across the organization.· Displays forward thinking · Works well with ambiguous or incomplete information · Understands architectural frameworks and best practices · Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills· Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture plans. · Systems Thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole (big picture thinking) · Knowledge of the business for which the enterprise architecture is being developed · Interpersonal and leadership skills - servant leadership, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills · Communication skills, both written and spoken · Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand · Knowledge of IT governance and operations · Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering · Project and program management planning and organizational skills · Knowledge of financial modeling as it pertains to IT investment · Customer service orientation · Time management and prioritization CollaborationThe Enterprise Architect often closely collaborates with:· Business analyst· Portfolio architect· Platform architect· Application architect · Release manager· Project manager· CIO· BIO's· Director of Common Services· Director of EPS· Business Leads· BARB· ARB/iARBQualificationsJob RequirementsEducation · 4-year degree or equivalent experienceRelevant Experience required: · Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT with 7+ years' experience in an application or business architecture role· Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a large enterprise such as National City· Experience with all aspects of application development and an understanding of application architecture models including object-oriented design methods· Knowledge of current application development frameworks (.Net, J2EE, Enterprise Application Integration, Service Oriented Architecture)· Working knowledge of multiple platforms - Microsoft, Unix, Linux, with depth in at least one of these platforms· Strong facilitation and consulting skills, as well as design documentationCore Competencies required for this role:· Leadership· Strategic Agility· Solution Oriented· Technology Breadth and Depth· Verbal and Written Communication Skills Related Information National CIty Corporation subsidiaries and member banks are Equal Opportunity Employers.
