Overview of Role

Main Duties/Responsibilities of the Role 

Senior developer to become part of an innovating team, subject matter expert and integrator of Windows 2000 and NT application development projects. They will be working on the infrastructure components of LOCuS, a web portal that provides real-time data, analytics and analysis tools for sales, trading and research to collaborate with customers on current and future trade ideas. The system operates on a MS SQL database, Windows 2000 application layer, C++ middleware and UNIX proxy and web servers. The three layers are integrated by use of socket communication, XML requests/responses and C++/.Net COM middleware components. This person will be working on the backend while interacting with front-end developers and at times with business users.
Primary responsibilities include: • Analyze, design, write and redesign critical LOCuS server side components • Design and write LOCuS components in C++ and C# .Net using SQL • Design, develop and implement reusable C / VC++ / C# class library API’s • Design, implement, and performance tune both SQL stored procedures and embedded SQL.

 

Skills and Experience 

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Science or equivalent is required.

Desirable:Business knowledge of Fixed Income. A graduate degree in the same is highly desirable as is a secondary degree in finance or business (MBA or MFE preferred).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:Hands-on experience programming with C++ in a multithreaded application environment. Strong experience using C++, C, COM/DCOM, Active Template Library (ATL), Standard Template Library (STL), Windows SDK, Sockets. Experience programming in a fast paced environment.

Desirable:XML I/O Completion Ports Shared Memory

TECHNICAL/BUISNESS SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential:VC++ (5-7 yrs) MS SQL (3-5 yrs)Windows NT / 2000 / XP development (3-5 yrs) Multi-threaded development (3-5 yrs) C# / .Net (recent 2-3 yrs) COM / DCOM (3-5 yrs)

Desirable:Sybase, Oracle and other industry standard repositories. Broad understanding of other languages. Proactive, innovative, self-motivated and detail oriented.
