JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction from the Chief Credit Officer, responsible for providing support, direction, credit information, and loan policies to ensure the overall quality of the bank’s lending portfolio.  Makes credit recommendations regarding Bank’s watch list, non-accruals, and charge-off’s.  Also responsible for assisting in assessing adequacy of the bank’s Allowance for Loan and Lease Loss Reserve (ALLL) and making appropriate recommendations to the Chief Credit Officer concerning adequacy. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Establishes departmental policies and operating procedures that are consistent with Bank policies and
 procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
• Through the direction/management of subordinate personnel, directs performance of comprehensive
 credit analyses, in accordance with Bank’s lending policies, of submitted loan applications in support
 of lending decisions and in preparation for loan committee review.
• Reviews, grades, and comments on prospective loans, ensuring adherence to Bank policies,
 procedures, and objectives, as well as regulatory requirements.
• Establishes and administers the bank’s internal credit process for the purposes of:
o Assigning objective grades to the credits
o Identifying potential or existing credit problems
o Ensuring conformity with Bank policy
• Makes charge-off recommendations to the Chief Credit Officer.
• Makes credit recommendations for placement and category on Bank’s watch list.
• On a quarterly basis, assists Chief Credit Officer in addressing the adequacy of Bank’s loan loss reserve.
• Along with Chief Credit Officer, acts as Bank’s liaison with credit regulatory agencies, facilitating credit- related regulatory examinations.
• Ensures the accuracy and timely publishing of loan committee minutes.
• Demonstrates personal and interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication, and initiative
 with customers and employees in order to ensure a high level of professionalism and promote team
 spirit throughout the Bank.
• Strives to meet or exceed the performance measurement criteria specific to this incumbent.
• Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers.
• Preservation of confidentiality of information communicated received from and
communicated by clients, prospects, and employer within the scope of the client-employee, prospect-employee, and employer-employee relationship unless the employee receives information concerning illegal activities on the part of the client, prospect, or employer.
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.


 
MINIMUM PREPARATION AND TRAINING

• A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related areas, or equivalent experience.  Additional business training, professional certification, and advanced degree are desirable.
• Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the credit area of a financial institution, including at least five years of managerial experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Excellent human relations and communications skills to represent the Bank to customers and other people of importance to the Bank.
• A high degree of analytical skills and familiarity with business and accounting practices.
• Complete familiarity with the Bank’s lending and credit policies and guidelines in order to provide the highest quality of service to customers and to safeguard the Bank’s position.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skill to coordinate department activities and work assignments.
• Proficiency with PC-computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel, calculators, typewriters and other business machines.
