Consumer Lending Origination Manager
Los Angeles Firemen’s Credit Union, the trusted provider of premier financial services to Firefighters throughout California, has a great opportunity for an experienced Consumer Lending Origination Manager to join our “Fire Family”. This position will build the Credit Union’s consumer lending portfolio by pro-active sales management which includes planning, development, implementation and management of the consumer lending origination and underwriting facets of the Credit Union. Qualified candidates will display thorough knowledge of consumer lending, loan operations, credit fundamentals and rules/regulations normally associated with seven years experience. Bachelor’s Degree and familiarity with CU products, services and culture highly desired.
Position Summary:
The primary function of this position is to allow the Credit Union to live out its rallying cry, “My service will positively impact the life of each member of our Fire Family.” To achieve this end, the position must provide outstanding service that meets our Service Promises to both internal and external members. In addition the Consumer Lending Origination Manager builds the Credit Union’s consumer loan portfolio by pro-active sales management which includes planning, development, implementation and management of the consumer loan origination and underwriting facets of the Credit Union.

This position is responsible for assuring the department meets the needs of the organization and
membership. This includes appropriate staffing levels (hiring, scheduling, etc.) developing and

and/or contribution to department and organizational business plans, as well as assuring staff has the
training tools (workspace, equipment, job descriptions, etc.) to perform in a successful manner.
Additionally, identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, as well as the ability to
address challenges and develop creative solutions in a timely manner.
3. Organizational Participation As a member of the Leadership Team, this position interacts with other Leadership Team members and staff to accomplish Credit Union goals. Position Specific Responsibilities:1. Sales Management
This position is responsible for all consumer lending origination activities, production and results. This is accomplished through assertive sales strategies which includes; management of the consumer phone team, inbound and outbound call management, managing in-branch member loan applications and sales, coordinating fire station presentations and the cross-selling of consumer loan products, ancillary products and other credit union products and services. The Consumer Lending Origination Manager also provides consumer lending sales expertise and guidance to remote Branch Managers.
2. Underwriting
Monitors loan underwriting activities in order to assure adherence to consumer lending policies and procedures. Conducts periodic audits of consumer loan approvals. Ensures loan decisions are being rendered in accordance with lending authority, internal operating policies and procedures and Federal and State lending regulations.
3. Performance Management
Initiates and implements department projects and product development. Ensure quality rollout
of new products and services via testing, pilot programs, and member focus groups.
Participates, contributes and supports the Credit Union and senior management team with
strategic goals and business plan objectives. Assists in monitoring the profitability and
performance of existing products and services and recommends modifications.
4. Goal and Production Management
In conjunction with credit union objectives, establishes and manages consumer loan production
goals. Monitors service levels and loan approval turnaround times to ensure the highest levels
of service are provided to the members. Manages loan origination activities in order to assure
adherence to underwriting policies and procedures and to achieve volume and yield objectives.
5. Pipeline Management
Analyzes information on the current credit-worthiness of members and the merits of their existing loans as well as from information gathered from direct inspection of; the members business, the collateral and personal interviews. Works in tandem with the Loan Servicing Manager to ensure quality member service and effective pipeline management by monitoring application flow process.
Position Qualifications:In depth knowledge of consumer lending, loan operations and credit fundamentals normally associated with seven years experience. Ability to analyze and interpret financial information. Thorough knowledge and understanding of consumer lending rules and regulations (i.e., Regulation Z., Section 91 - The Fair Credit Reporting Act, etc.). Must be able to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and be able to balance and compile figures, compose correspondence, and research questions and information. High school diploma and or GED required along with a minimum of seven years of work related experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Eye/Hand Coordination: Performing work using both hands.
Be able to lift/carry objects up to 10-15 lbs frequently.
Able to remain in a normal seated position for long periods of time during the day or repetitive alternating, sitting, walking and standing.
