Computer Operator3 months to Direct HireBurlington, NCJob Description: Provides operational and technical support to the data processing department in accordance with established systems and procedures. Represents the bank with professionalism both on the job and within the community by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as a liaison between the Data Processing department and the Information Technology Manager Assists in training Computer Operators and Item Processing Specialists on departmental procedures, policies and processing functionsServes as a primary back-up for on call response for data personnelAssists in completing the annual test with Disaster Recovery Plan site as required by policyAssists Information Technology Manager in completion of system software/hardware upgradesIdentifies training needs within the IT department and seeks direction from Information Technology Manager in coordinating trainingProvides Information Technology Manager with monthly departmental reportsServes as back up to the Data Processing ManagerProvides operational and technical support to data processing department and usersCoordinates the daily work flow for the data processing department ensuring that operating schedules are met, as well as between departments and usersReviews and recommends new methods and procedures to make daily operations in the department more efficient. Evaluates problems and special requests.Writes work flows, operator instructions and procedures for productionCoordinates the daily work flow for the data processing department, ensuring that operating schedules are met Monitors console and inputs responses and commands of a routine natureResponsible for the tape library and for the inventory of expendable computer supplies Participates on project teams to insure operational feasibility on new and/or revised systems and or applications. Maintains accurate logs with coordination of a third party printer. Ensures that all system generated customer correspondence is delivered and received for processing.Serves on special committees as required.Other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Day shift schedule: 8:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m.) and (Night shift schedule is 3:00 p.m. 12:00 midnight). Overtime is mandatory and usually not scheduled (must be flexible).EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and 3-5 years of related banking experience and/or 5-7 years of work experience/training in a similar position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.COMPUTER SKILLS: Experience with branch banking and operations software applications and excellent PC, word processing and spreadsheet skills. Proficiency with 10 key and a basic knowledge of server based application skills (Microsoft SQL server) is required. LANGUAGE and COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers. Ability to effectively present information to customers and management through oral or written communication.ANALYTICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.SAFETY, SECURITY and CONFIDENTIALITY This position requires keeping complete confidentiality of all customer transactions and information, and paying close attention to security within and around the bank's premise at all times.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
