Candidates ideally would be Certified Money Laundering Specialists. Prefer a banking background, insurance companies or FBI. The positions will be in North San Antonio, TX.

Compliance Specialist Job DescriptionServe as an expert research specialist who performs a wide range of functions with a high level of difficulty and complexity. Utilize a wide variety of databases and applications to develop a base of information from which to draw inferences and summaries. Analyze financial transactions of known or suspected internal or external criminal activities, with primary focus on money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act issues, including terror financing, money laundering fraud schemes, structuring, and illegal money service businesses. Apply subject matter knowledge to review, process, and evaluate data to develop trends, patterns, and profiles. Apply quantitative and qualitative methods to identify patterns and trends related to money laundering and other types of unusual and/or suspicious transactions. Ensure the validity and reliability of the information gathered and refer appropriate cases for further investigation.Interact with Investigators and the Financial Intelligence Unit to resolve unusual and/or suspicious account activity. Responsible for investigation of moderately complex money laundering schemes requiring proficient experience in conducting investigations Identify weaknesses in bank policy and procedures which may place the bank at financial risk and suggests improvements to those policies and procedures. Perform moderately complex investigations and protect the bank from known or suspected internal or external criminal activities, with primary focus on money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act issues, including terror financing, money laundering fraud schemes, structuring, and illegal money service businesses. Demonstrate proficiency in investigative practices associated with an experienced investigator (conduct interviews, collect data, compile documentation & evidence, maintain accurate notes, develop initial & ongoing reports of investigations, complete accurate and timely Suspicious Activities Reports (SAR). Utilize the bank’s data systems, retrieving information and transactional activity extensively. Prepare comprehensive reports of investigation. Refer cases for criminal prosecution where appropriate.

 


Essential Compliance Specialist Skills & CharacteristicsBA degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, International Studies, Criminal Justice, or related experienceA combination of relevant education and work experience will be consideredProficient in the Microsoft Suite of productsTwo to five years experience in money laundering investigations, security operations and/or fraud prevention
