Business Development Officer - SBA / Commercial Lending

Job Purpose:

Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships for the purposes of originating SBA, Member Business and Commercial Loans and increasing the membership base of the credit union.

Duties:

* Responsible for the development of and prospecting for SBA and Member Business Loan for origination and funding.

*Assist in the processing and underwriting of their own loan production and communicates with the borrowers, third party, management on status and progress.

*Responsible for the development and recruitment of Small Employer Groups (SEGs) into membership in the credit union.

*Attend off-site business events and functions, community sponsored events and networking opportunities in association to developing lending opportunities and membership expansion.

*Works directly with management in developing marketing tactics and ideas to develop business and market penetration.

*Provides consistent communication to management on support staff on all matters that pertains to business both in written and verbal format.

* Identifies trend setter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.

* Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities.

* Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.

* Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.

* Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.

* Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Working knowledge of SBA and Residential Lending.  Knowledge of Commercial lending a plus but not required.  Prior experience working with credit unions is desirable.

Fluency in Spanish is desirable but not required.  Willingness to travel is necessary.
