We also manage to keep a sense of humor along the way.  So if you’re ready for WaMu, read on!   Join our dynamic team and help build the future of Small Business Banking with WaMu as a Business Development Area Manager in support of the Small Business banking division.  In our exciting and rapidly growing organization, be responsible for coaching your Business Development Officers to enhance and expand relationships with current and new clients with the sales of WaMu Small Business products and services.   This position requires a mastery of small business relationship building, sales and sales management, and strategic planning.  The work involves applying Small Business banking objectives to your assigned sales area to develop effective strategies for your team of Business Development Officers to achieve their sales and performance goals.  Design and implement a strategic business plan to identify your prospects, tactics, and methodologies to build a successful Small Business banking organization.    Essential Functions: • Work closely with Market Manager to design and implement an overall sales and development strategy for attracting small business clients within the assigned area, including sales targets, new customer acquisition rates, customer services levels, etc. • Build, develop, and coach a team of effective Business Development Officers, managing their activities and overall performance against established sales and productivity goals. • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of business development practices. • Ensure effective partnership with Strategic Partners in assigned area. • Provide appropriate oversight to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations affecting your span of control.•  Demonstrated excellence in business relationship-building skills •  Successful track record in developing and leading a business development team in Banking, Financial Services, or a closely related industry •  4 + years of Business Banking / Financial Services relationship management experience •  Demonstrated results in development and execution of strategy to build sales and successful business relationships •  Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred (or the equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job) •  Travel required   Please note:  This position is intended for individuals with 5+ years experience managing teams of business development officers.  If you have business development experience but not 5+ years of team management, please consider our other anticipated opening: Business Development Officer   Washington Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
