Job Title:  Benefits Team Leader

Salary: Band H

Salary Range:Band Min.  $55,773  Midpoint  $81,000

 

 

Description of Position:

Leads training of benefits staff, as well as support and coaching of Human Resource Business Partners in their client liaison capacity on benefit related matters.   Provides analysis and input on strategic direction of benefits.  Plays a key role in benefit plan implementations and on-going vendor management.  Primary role in the creation, reviewing, and presentation of employee benefit communications. Ensures timely and accurate administration and compliance with government regulations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, travel accident, tuition assistance, COBRA, Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k) and retirement).  Analyzes current benefits, evaluates plan experience and competitive trends, and coordinates reporting of benefit metrics.  Evaluates processes for improvement and recommends the implementation of best practices that will improve the performance of the organization.

 

Qualifications: 

· Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or other relevant discipline.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in group benefits strategy and administration.  To be relevant experience should be with groups greater than 500 lives and include experience with pension, retiree medical including FAS 106 reporting requirements, 401(k) administration, and vendor implementation and management.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in developing and documenting administrative procedures.

· Project and time management skills with ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

· Good interpersonal skills in order to be able to build trust with team members, employees and vendors with a drive to provide excellent customer service.

· Demonstrated leadership ability or 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

· Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including highly advanced skills in Excel and Access.
