Banknote Trader

Role Purpose:

This is a unique professional trading opportunity with a dynamic international financial services corporation. The selected candidate will be responsible for trading foreign banknotes in accordance with business objectives and client needs.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Essentials:

Ø  Requires a minimum of five years experience in actively trading wholesale banknotes

Ø  Effectively communicates with customers in the domestic and overseas banknote markets

Ø  Possesses a thorough understanding of the foreign exchange marketplace, and treasury management principles

Ø  Proficiency/interest in technology essential

Ø  Experience of delivering exceptional service to customers

Ø  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Ø  High degree of professionalism, with a confident, persuasive manner

Ø  Displays effective leadership skills that enables motivation and direction

Ø  Displays a high degree of tact and diplomacy to resolve a range of customer service issues

Ø  Ability to effectively work in a team structure, and influence to the degree necessary

Ø  High degree of self-motivation, combined with effective time management skills

Ø  Ability to apply sound judgment based on experience and market knowledge to continuously improve the profitability and efficiency of the department

Ø  Analytical capacity, with innovative problem-solving skills and excellent report writing skills

Ø  Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain customer relationships at all levels

Ø  Bachelor’s Degree preferred

 

 Key Accountabilities:

Ø  Independently buys and sells (trades) foreign banknotes in accordance with business objectives, client needs and trading limits

Ø  Responsible for minimizing cost paid to suppliers by leveraging various counter parties for the lowest cost supply options

Ø  Manages hedge positions to offset exchange fluctuations to the physical inventory positions

Ø  Manages physical banknote inventory turnover levels to optimize holding levels

Ø  Analyses economic and market indicators to proactively manage exchange exposure

Ø  Manage wholesale client portfolios to achieve budget revenue targets

Ø  Responsible for maximising profitability across the desk within pricing model and responsible for profitability of the customer base

Ø  Develops and implements retention and expansion strategies for high value customers

Ø  Organizes and controls workflow appropriately within the team

Ø  Develop initiatives to attract new wholesale customers

Ø  Management of client base to ensure profitability and adherence of all risk protocols including settlement and release of funds terms

Ø  Liaise with all international departments to ensure accurate and timely trade placement and fulfilment

Ø  Leads and manages the team to identify the potential for profitable growth of individual customers, including growing wallet share and new product sales

Ø  To be actively involved in facilitating and implementing projects as directed by Sr. VP Ops.

Ø  Able to receive, manage and solve customer complaints/issues, escalating when required
