For more information, visit State Street's web site at www.statestreet.com Assistant Tax Manager, Officer Job Description This position is responsible for reviewing the following prepared by our tax analysts for funds with complex technicalities: fiscal year end book tax/adjustments; 2) year-end excise distribution calculations; federal and state income tax filings; and 4) year end shareholder reporting. The position is a key component in the development of relevant systems enhancements as they pertain to the tax reporting process. The unit manager position is responsible for the review of all of the complicated calculations prepared by the tax seniors and staff as well as the initial review of the RIC qualification tests prepared by the Reporting and Compliance group. This position is responsible for answering all of the tax staffs unanswered questions and the review of all the work they produce. Responsible for supervising, reviewing, training and developing staff, executing and developing systems enhancements; Normal day to day communications with the client become a responsibility of this level Responsible for first-level review of complex excise tax distributions Reviews complex fiscal year end distributions and tax provision. Reviews and researches book tax adjustments prepared by staff. Reviews year end shareholder reporting data. Reviews and approves IRS compliance for less complicated funds. Reviews federal and state income tax returns. Reviews federal excise tax filings. Leads small group in developing system upgrades as they pertain to tax reporting. Trains tax seniors and staff. Responds to all ad hoc client requests. Reviews property tax returns for state of incorporation. Trains tax staff on the mechanics of the tax software, income tax returns, schedules, and templates. Reviews and may prepare tax footnotes and answers basic Reporting and Compliance group questions on the ROCSOP calculations for financial reporting purposes. Communicates with auditors on questions on work prepared by the tax group. Day to day communications with clients. Other special projects or tasks as assigned. Employee Specifications The candidate should have a BABS, preferably in accounting or finance, 4-6 years experience in mutual fund taxation. A CPA, a master's degree in Taxation, or equivalent industry experience are a plusClick here to apply
