Analysis:Defines business requirements for minor enhancements. Evaluates vendor installation instructions for software packages, as required. Understands the business rules related to the application data. Develops and/or evaluates the current business process flows, as required. Understands the existing application environment and infrastructure. Determines the impact to existing application programs, interfaces, the technical infrastructure and the business area when considering various solutions. Develops business knowledge of assigned applications. Recommends operational efficiencies including automated and non-automated solutions.Design:Designs or participates in the design of minor enhancements and modifications to programs and/or systems. Prepares Functional Specifications and Programming Specifications, as required. Writes, or evaluates, technical specifications for new and/or existing application programs. Develops proposed business process flows, as required.Development And/Or Integration:Establishes development environment. Develops organized, documented source code that is easy to understand and maintain. Develops data conversion routines, as required.* Install vendor software and integrate to/from internal Wilmington Trust systems and service providers, as required. Demonstrates the proficient use of applicable development tools and utilities.Testing:Develops and/or evaluates test plan and scripts. Demonstrates the proficient use of applicable testing tools and utilities. Establishes a testing environment. Performs unit and system testing according to test scripts and environment. Incorporates special testing requirements when applicable, including but not limited to exception, integration, regression and stress testing. Analyzes test results to validate changes. Responsible for quality assurance reviews. Performs user acceptance testing. Performs parallel processing, as required.Implementation:Converts, as required, data to new system specifications. Implements changes into production environment. Modifies all system and user documentation, as required. Works with project team to establish contingency plans for seamless back-out and recovery situations. Demonstrates a consistent, high standard by implementing quality, defect-free implementations.Support:Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other programming staff. Assists business users and clients with questions and problems. Researches, analyzes, and determines the cause of program and/or system failures. Test and implement a resolution. Evaluates the impact to the client, business and/or service partner. Considers interim and long-term solutions. Maintains program and system documentation. Provides 24x7 support for the application systems, as required. Provides remote support to expedite problem resolution.Other Responsibilities:Acts as project leader for projects with small budgets or limited duration. Directs and monitors the work of team members. Reports to supervisor on activities and status. Participates in the preparation and execution of the annual bank-wide Business Continuity test. Incorporates Wilmington Trust Company standards and procedures in all work. Assumes additional responsibilities as requested. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training and/or work experience and more than 5-8 years of application programming experience.Demonstrates the highest level of proficiency in the use of personal computers and software packages (such as Microsoft Office).Application Skills:Strong database programming background focusing on T-SQLRelational database modeling experience with firm grasp of normalizationStar schema design experienceExperience with a Business Intelligence tool preferably COGNOS 8.2OLAP experienceETL experienceIn addition:Detail-oriented; organizational skills; multi-tasking; systems development life cycle methodology; and interpersonal skills.Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Coaching /Mentoring:Proven leadership and organizational skills. Manages individual development by providing coaching, feedback, and reinforcement. Effectively delegates programming tasks. Develops a strong sense of ownership in assignments or projects by providing clear expectations, responsibility, and coaching. Establishes and builds rapport by communicating frequently and in a non-threatening manner. Analysis and monitors progress and results and takes appropriate measures and counter measures. Fosters the attitudes, conditions, and environments that yield improved quality and quantity to maximize performance.
