Welding Technician
Automotive GroupJCI, is seeking a candidate that has welding experience in a high volume manufacturing environment. Required skill sets must include manual GMAW, robotic programming/support for automated GMAW, weld destructive testing, strong mechanical aptitude, and a positive team player attitude. Individual must also be able to follow technical documentation and technical instruction. Technical school or vocational training with welding required. Robot experience with Fanuc & Motoman preferred.
Monitor part quality requirements per inspection procedures, and documents. Communicate to management and team members of any issues that may inhibit daily production (i.e. issues with machinery, fixturing, materials, etc.) Perform quality checks as required by our quality expectations. Perform daily prototype operations per standard work instructions. Maintain organization, safety, and 5S procedures of prototype area. Follow all welding ODS's and work instructions. Understand and actively implement company policies and procedures. Support welding manufacturing activities as required, (i.e. Quality checks, rework resetting machines, performing PM's, completing technical projects, implement cost saving actions).
Works with Manufacturing Technician to coordinate prototype builds required for engineering changes or new program startups and participates in SDT teamwork when required.
Works with group engineering in the development of new programs in the area of analyzing new designs for potential welding concerns which could lead to excessive rework or quality problems.
Manufacturing experience, auto industry preferred. Must have strong mechanical aptitude. Experience in the use of calipers, metric scales, and mechanical hand tools, ability to follow technical documentation. Tech school or vocational training in welding preferred.
Must possess strong mig welding skills with ability to read part prints and design fixturing, analyze potential process problems and produce prototypes.
Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.
