Vice President Operations-Global Automotive

A rapidly-growing $250 million division of a billion dollar manufacturer of Tier 1 engineered components to the automotive industry seeks a Vice President of Global Operations to oversee six manufacturing plants in the U.S., Mexico, Europe and Asia. Some experience in general management will be a plus, since this person will become the Vice President General Manager for the division in two years and will then have profit & loss responsibility.

 

In the initial position, will report to the Vice President General Manager and will direct and manage all manufacturing operations and product quality to attain divisional and corporate goals. Will head-up the company's lean manufacturing efforts and develop plans to implement Toyota Manufacturing Systems throughout the division's plant locations employing 1500-2000 employees. Will provide input into the strategic planning process and will develop and communicate sound manufacturing strategies. Will help develop business models and assist in introducing new products. Will maximize the utilization of assets and oversee manufacturing engineering, procurement and make/buy decisions.

 

A successful candidate must have a BS degree (MS or MBA degree is preferred) along with strong international experience involving multiple cultures and multiple plant locations. 

 

Experience with a Tier 1 provider is highly preferred. 

 

Must possess broad-based experience leading to a VPGM role within two years. 

 

Must have demonstrated a successful track record in lean manufacturing utilizing JIT, work cells and Toyota Manufacturing Systems.

 

Must have experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.

 

Travel in the 25-35% range. Base salary $200K+, plus bonus.
