Vehicle Maintenance Technician (10640)

DescriptionProvide the expertise necessary to maintain and repair all material handling equipment. Maintain the plants back-up generator, fire protection pumping system, alarm systems, carpool inspections, plant material scales and stretch wrapping machines. Requires advanced electrical troubleshooting skills and techniques, with minimal or no electrcical drawings. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform hands on repairs on all types of material handling equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: Forklifts, both fuel and electric powered, stretch wrapping machines,battery changeout carts, pallet jacks, manlifts, battery chargers and cranes. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to work with trouble codes/faults and able to determine the action needed to correct the problem. Perform Pm’s and repairs to plants generators and transfer switches. Able to work without electrical digrams and sketches at times. Able to work alone with minimal supervison, strong desire to achieve departmental goals and plant goals. Perform plant carpool inspections and suggest any needed repairs. Work with fire protection contractors to make sure the plant meets all necessary insurance requirements for fire protection regulations, NFPA standards. Experience with maintaining equipment to meet all plant safety standards, safety must be a first priority when repairing all equipment. Perform basic repairs to plants security camera system. Capable of troubleshooting/calibrating scales and performing repairs as needed. This position is hands on. Keep all work orders up to date and closed in a timely manner. Familiar with Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) able to perform PM’s in a timely and safe manner, record keeping skills for PM history. Able to source parts from various vendors to obtain pricing, able to request repair parts, prepare purchase requisitons, shipping memos and follow up on order status. Able to maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times. Able to work with purchasing to help establish min/max inventories for repair parts. Basic computer skills, MS office, SAP experience would be a plus Work with and support all maintenance activities as handed.Required SkillsBilingual - English 100%, Spanish 60% (written and oral). Automotive repair background. Strong electrical, electronic and mechanical skills. Working knowledge of pnuematics, hydraulics, lifting equipment. Work with little or no supervision. Willing to work hands on. Safety is very critical to this position. Required Experience• Strong automotive repair background. • Minimum of 10 years hands on experience in repair/troubleshooting. • Self Starter.
