Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Hawk Corporation is a global manufacturer of friction materials headquartered in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Hawk operates primarily through its Wellman Products Group where products are branded as "Wellman", "Hawk" and "Velvetouch". It operates 11 manufacturing sites and sales offices throughout the world, including factories in Italy, China, Canada and several in the U.S. The financial headquarters is in downtown Cleveland and there are Cleveland area locations in Solon, Akron and Medina.

We are looking for a talented individual to fill the role of Strategic Sourcing Specialist at our Medina facility. The primary responsibility of this position will be to support manufacturing through the selection of sourcing for technical materials and sub-contracted operations. Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineering and Process Engineering to provide best value to the organization. Identify and develop strategic supply base - outline short/long term strategies, select suppliers, lead commodity teams. Complete "buy" portion of make vs. buy analysis, incorporating the total cost of procurement. The ideal candidate will have steel sourcing experience.
This position will also support the Director of Sourcing in: Negotiation of supllier contracts for component costs, delivery, and quality. Report, minimize, and forecast purchased price variances on all expenditures. Monitor and maintaining of Supplier OTD at 95% or higher levels.Resolve supplier concerns surrounding pricing, delivery dates, supplier ratings.Establish good supplier relationships.
Position Qualifications:Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing or Materials Science - Metallurgy) or other related field. Six Sigma and/or Quality experience is a plus.Or a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field with a MBA preferred. Must be a Certified Purchasing Manager or hold equivalent credentials. Commercial experience (in Purchasing or Sales) preferred. Six Sigma and/or Quality experience is a plus.
