Duties include but are not limited to the following:Key Responsibilities:1. Member of the Advanced System Integration team to develop tools, processes, and training to support Advanced Engineering, New product teams, and current product teams in the areas of :a. Statistical modelingb. Optimizationc. Data analysisd. Reliability analysis2. Lead the statistical applications development of the power-system calibration tool to adapt to current & future customer requirementsa. Develop modeling techniques for engine performance and systems modelingb. Develop optimization techniques to handle large highly-constrained problems involving multiple characteristic time scalesc. Develop innovative testing solutions to reduce development time and integrate with analysis led design toolsd. Develop embedded models for in-situ application and adaptatione. Be forward thinking and customer led to grow the tool for future applications3. Support Six Sigma initiatives with content ownership of the statistical methods modules, provide training as requested, consult on projects as needed4. Support Reliability Functional ExcellenceThis position is really for a senior statistician to work in the research and technology area in order to look for novel and unique application of statistical methods to the NUD's, if you will, New Unique & Difficult (to use the Six Sigma language) engineering problems. One of the main qualities that we are looking for in a candidate is a BROAD experience applying many different statistical methods to practical problems, hence why we are looking for a professional hire with some work experience. Along with this main focus on R&T, this person also often becomes involved in reliability applications, warranty data analysis, and other misc problems. Required Skill Set (Functional / Technical):** PhD in Applied Statistics or Operations Research, MS in Applied Statistics with 10 + years relevant exp will be considered.** 3+ years of relevant work experience** Time series modeling and numerical optimization experience' Minitab experience, Matlab experience' Inquisitive nature and has a sense for numbers' Knowledge of diesel engines or engine calibration processes a plusRequired Skill Set (Quality / Improvement):' Experience/familiarity with Six Sigma tools' Experience/familiarity with systematic approaches, principles of logic and analytical techniques to define and solve problems' Ability to find the real issues behind problemsRequired Skill Set (Teamwork):' Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and with individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets' Demonstrated ability to work within a team and help the team meet its goals' Ability to effectively communicate with othersRequired Skill Set (Leadership):' Willing to take ownership of projects/issues and insure they are resolved to their customer's satisfaction' Ability to handle multiple tasks and new assignments' Demonstrated ability to establish and meet schedules' Interactive and proactive in responding to issuesTRAVEL REQUIRED (%): 10 %Benefits/Company information:Explore superior growth opportunities and enjoy progressive advantages like our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, stock options, Domestic Partners coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
