Senior Power Electronics Engineer

Essential Duties

and Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This senior engineer will function as a member of the Power Electronics Group. The position is approximately 75% hardware design and 25% control-algorithm and software development, with the following duties:

 Modeling of power conversion systems (DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC) and their control including loads such as electric motors and higher order filters. Design, implementation, and testing of power-stages, magnetics, gate-drive circuitry, control circuitry and other aspects of power electronics.Design, implementation, and trouble-shooting of control algorithms for power conversion systems. Design, implementation, and trouble-shooting of control hardware, including data-acquisition and DSP circuits. Project management and technical leadership of development projects. Contribution to proposals to customers, especially technical content. Interaction with customers during quote process, visits to customer sites, and visits by customers. Pursuing of patent protection for Azure Dynamics technology where appropriate. Contributing to the teaching and professional development of other engineers. Other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Education, Specialized Training and

Experience

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:Extensive hands-on experience with Power Electronics is required. Hands-on experience with motors and generators (both asynchronous and synchronous) is desired. Fluency in C is desired. Knowledge of Hybrid Electric Vehicle and/or Distributed Generation markets, customer requirements, and applications is strongly preferred. A high level of initiative and proactiveness is required. Good communication and presentation skills are required. Strong organizational and time management skills are required. Occasional travel is required.

 

 

Education/Certification:An MSEE with emphasis on power electronics and a minimum of 5 years related experience OR a BSEE and a minimum of 10 years related experience is required.
