To provide leadership in the procurement of indirect goods and services used by our manufacturing, technical, and administrative locations across Cummins Business units; with the objective of providing these goods and services at the lowest total cost commensurate with our requirements for service, quality, and delivery. This position will lead and facilitate commodity teams, which include key supplier and Cummins entity representatives. Individual will conceptualize, develop, and implement commodity strategies for the procurement of suppliers related to Construction, Facilities and Engineering services, which in some cases may be global in nature. Position will mediate issues between business unit customers and suppliers. Responsibilities Include:- Develop and implement commodity strategies as assigned.- Lead sourcing processes for indirect purchases that address Construction and Engineering opportunities.- Understand and utilize the total cost of ownership (TCO) methodology in sourcing decisions.- Maintain and manage the performance of a worldwide supply base of competitive and innovative companies.- Deliver TCO savings for assigned products and services.- Lead cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and define performance criteria for suppliers prior to RFP/RFQ, source selection and contract.- Mediate issues between functional customers and suppliers as required.- Develop and facilitate 'Commodity Teams' including key suppliers and functional administrative or plant representatives to drive supply chain improvements.- Develop minority suppliers and increase minority business enterprise (MBE) purchases. - Bachelor's Degree (Technical preferred), Master's Degree a plus - 5 to 8 years experience in Purchasing - Strong negotiating skills- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal- Data driven with strong analytical skills- Strong understanding of finance, purchasing and sales concepts- Understands business requirements of functional stakeholders - Understands 6 Sigma and continuous improvement- Is sensitive to and complies with ISO/Sarbanes-Oxley/Legal requirements- Performs well in a team environment- Relates well in diverse groups of people and values diversity- Demonstrates keen conflict management skills- Self-starter with strong managerial and organizational skills- Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects to successful completion- Think strategically and conceptually- Demonstrate capability and cultural savvy to manage global relationships Cummins is an Equal Opportunity Employer
