Software Test Engineer: CDMA/GSM/ UMTS SW -1012

Department description: Telematics is the discipline for providing location based services in a vehicle. In this case communication is through a Cellular Network. The department is responsible for feature development, testing, and maintenance of embedded software in a Telematics GSM/HSDPA/CDMA Network Access Devices (NAD), for multiple projects/customers. This includes analysis, design, coding, testing, and integration of software features, and all software integration, validation, and certification activities to achieve shipment for and GSM/HSDPA/CDMA products internationally. The NAD is a variant of a cellular phone with Telematics features, and is embedded into a vehicle without a display or a keypad. It communicates with a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) using a serial interface and using AT commands. Job description: Primary responsibilities include requirement analysis, development of test plans, integration testing and system testing of features of embedded software. Perform testing and validation for certification of the NAD with standards bodies and Service Providers. Develop test automation software. Position requires working with international teams in different time zones. Position may require periodic travel of up to 15% within the United States and International.The candidate will have a BS/MS EE/CE/CS degree. Proficiency in C is required, and experience with C++ is preferred. Knowledge of GSM/UMTS IS95/IS2000 call processing is required. Knowledge of other features in GSM and 3G cellular technologies is desirable. Experience in hardware/software interfaces and ARM processors is a required. Experience in working in a Unix development environment, and Clearcase configuration management system is desired. Knowledge of software engineering processes and project management is desirable. Knowledge of standards such as CDMA( IS-683, IS-707, IS-835, IS-637, IS-898) and GSM, UMTS, HSDPA and HSUPA is a plus. Remain current on emerging technologies. The candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving ability, and motivation. Strong team work and ability to be effective in a multi-tasking technical environment are required.5+ years of experience in the development, debugging, testing of software for real-time embedded systems.
