Position Synopsis: We seek an experienced Project Manager/Senior Consultant to join our national Project Management Consulting firm. The role will supervise and mentor other consultants in planning, facilitating and improving our client project teams. They will do this through the delivery of project management strategies, tools, methodologies and training, either at client sites, or at our Training facility in Atlanta.
Responsibilities: 1. Introduce, implement and leverage the capabilities of various project management software tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P5, SureTrak) 2. Develop project charters that concisely define project scope, objectives, major stakeholders, constraints, assumptions and risks. 3. Facilitate work breakdown structure which includes team analysis of project work content, breakdown and definition of manageable activities, and allocation of responsibilities to team members. 4. Guide the creation of project networks. Specifically develop logic diagrams illustrating precedence relationship among activities. 5. Employ complex compressing techniques. Utilize established and intuitive schedule crashing methods as required to meet project deadlines and to optimize the relationship between the costs of performing activities more quickly versus the costs of extending project durations. 6. Lead and facilitate project update meetings. 7. Generate reports and other information to document project programs, procedures and performance. 8. Coach and mentor team members, project managers and management.
Job Requirements:
- 10 years in a manufacturing, industrial or technical environment with minimum 2 years of management experience (hiring, coaching, mentoring, handling personnel issues, profit/loss responsibility, etc.) – 75% travel (3 weeks a month) - 4 year Engineering or Technical degree - An advanced degree a plus - Strong communication, facilitation and training skills - Proven leadership skills - Excellent computer and analysis skills – Strong technical writing skills (punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc.) - Solid work experience in project teams in one or more of the following areas: * Product development/introduction * Reengineering/core process redesign * Facility start-up/equipment installation * Major maintenance * IT development/implementation * Marketing program development/implementation
