Section Leader Industrial Engineering

Description

Supervises and leads the team of Assembly Industrial Engineering Production Associates. Manages and performs process time analysis using BMW standard data methodology (MTM base). Reports value-added time data to support the process of headcount planning, utilization and forecasting. Initiates and supports cost improvement projects and techniques. Facilitates components of the line balance preparation. Leads IE segment of new model projects. Directs supervision to the industrial engineering associates. Leads team functions to meet targets. Performs process time studies using BMW SD methods, as well as MTM, MTM-UAS, and stop watch methods as needed. Uses the ZMD system to enter and change data. Facilitates the use of LEMO program in order to help balance the workstations to target utilization. Initiates and supports cost and method improvement projects/processes. Reports value added time for series and new model scenarios. Supports Assembly Planning with process analysis and layout planning for series and new models. Supports new model time and process sequence development. Supports production program model/volume scenario evaluations. Facilitates line balance data creation and dispersal. Leads or participates in any special projects. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

 

Requirements

1.  B.S. in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field.

2.  3+ years supervisory experience in the management of industrial engineering concepts,  including time study methodology.

3.  3+ years industrial engineering experience, including use of time study methods, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects, data collection and reporting.

4.  3-5 years experience with manufacturing processes.

5.  3-5 years Microsoft Office applications.

6.  3-5 years time study system use.

In March 2008, BMW Manufacturing announced an additional $750 million investment to build a new 1.2-million-square-foot Assembly facility adjacent to the original factory to accommodate the next generation BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle. With completion of this construction, BMW's total investment in South Carolina will become $4.4 billion.
