Safety Specialist (2 Openings)

Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of safety programs in an auto manufacturing environment.

 

· Develop communication system with Area Managers for day-to-day activities

· Reinforce safe work practices with Team Leaders and Team Members

· Develop Team Member Incident Tracking Chart(s) for all area Senior Managers

· Support Safety Teams in all areas to identify potential safety risks

· Work with Team Leaders and Process Engineering to resolve safety issues in all areas

· Responsible for the maintenance and administration of the ergonomics principles for HMMA safety functions

· Assist in developing packaging guidelines for HMMA ergonomic issues

· Conduct hazard prevention and control processes that eliminate or minimize the hazards identified in the worksite analysis by changing the jobs, workstation, tools, or environment to fit the worker

· Participate in investigations and root cause analysis of incidents; facilitate the completion of reports; analyze incidents to identify trends and implement remedial actions; assure lessons learned are shared and preventive actions are closed out and documented

· Provide training and educational modules to give both manager and workers an understanding of the potential risk of injuries, their causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment

· Practice, encourage, and reinforce safe, healthy and environmentally sound behaviors through the observation process and by coordinating/conducting HMMA Orientation/induction training for new/transferred employees, contractors and visitors

· Advise and work with the Safety Department to develop effective and appropriate health & safety training modules, and assure compliance with regulatory training requirements

· Coordinate and lead safety meetings pertaining to ergonomic-related issues and concerns

· Promote the implementation of health and wellness programs

Education/Training:

High School/GED

2 year technical degree preferred

4 year degree or comparable background of work related experience desired

3 – 5 years job related experience preferred
