The Automotive & Assembly Practice helps companies in virtually all areas of the automotive industry, as well as non-automotive companies focused on assembling products, covering all aspects of the value chain. The Automotive & Assembly Practice's Research & Information ("R&I") team is a global team with hubs in Detroit, Düsseldorf, Moscow, Mumbai, Shanghai and Tokyo.

 

We are seeking a creative and energetic professional with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and computer/database skills to be part of our R&I team.  This individual will support McKinsey consultants on client and knowledge development projects by conducting external business research on products in the automotive and assembly industry, and synthesizing this research using McKinsey communication tools and frameworks to produce end products ranging from short memos to long reports.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:Outstanding academic record (Bachelor’s degree required)2 plus years post-undergraduate work experience for the Research Analyst role.  Relevant internships will be considered for Junior level candidatesStrong interest in the automotive and assembly industry.  Automotive industry experience is not required, although helpful in accelerating your learning curveSolid understanding of economic, financial, and general business concepts and terminology

· Experience in conducting business or academic research on commercial databases and web sourcesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyComprehensive computer skills including database searching, power point, word processing, and spreadsheet analysisGood people skills, team orientation, and professional attitudeA high level of initiative and strong ethical standardsSome travel involved, but not on a regular basis
